RIP - Art World Deaths in 2017

Before we move on into 2018, this is a look back at those  we lost from the world of art in 2017.

Below are the videos, articles and blog posts created about the lives and artwork of those in the art world who died in 2017.

It's not everybody of course. If I don't know the name they're not included - and this list also has a very UK bias.

Those listed below are:
  • John Berger (1926-2017)age 90
  • Sir Howard Hodgkin (1932-2017) age 84
  • Pandora Sellars (1936-2017) age 80
  • Khadija Saye (1992-2017) age 24
  • Bernard Dunstan (1920-2017) age 97
  • David Shepherd (1931-2017) age 86
Note the ages!
Looks like being an artist is a recipe for a long life.... unless you die a tragic death....

Painting was his life-long passion, of course – he knew that he wanted to be a painter and nothing but a painter from the age of five, immediately after he had drawn a picture of a woman with a red face and bushy hair – but he always found it difficult to talk about that which consumed him until his dying day.

  1. For me, David Shepherd's early works, aircraft and dock scenes, sparked my need to draw/paint.

What a loss your list spells out.
